Portuguese Man-o-War, I think

Pre-storm fishing @ Ramp 27 on Sunday, I noticed about 100 of these along the wrack line on the beach. We were barefooted, so I informed my brother to avoid stepping on them. From looking at images online, I think they look like men-o-war. Be careful out there!

Known as: Velella, or By-the-wind-sailor, or Sail jelly. Not Man-of War.

We found a bunch of these the other day on the beach at Pea Island. Thanks for posting the photos, Wren - and for the ID, ultrahog. I kept thinking maybe they were "squished" Blue Buttons/Porpita. Their name Velella "By the Wind Sailor certainly is apt.
