Sea Gull Motel

Any thoughts on the Sea Gull Motel in Hatteras Village? I know its owned by the evil empire, and I've heard there is no onsite office, but I'm just looking for a cheap clean room for a weekend.
Opinions?

Sorry I don't know anything about the Sea Gull. But, we stayed in the Avon Motel Friday night and were quite surprised at how it had changed ( for the better) since the last time we stayed there many, many years ago. We are down for a weekly Saturday rental in Hatteras this week, but wanted to come down for the Fish Like a Girl tournament on Saturday morning at the Avon Pier, so we came down and stayed Friday night. I can't speak for the rest of the rooms, but we stayed in Room #10 and it was very clean and "cheap"- $99.00. I believe they updated the rooms after the fire a few years back. Hope this helps you.

You already stated the downsides, but I haven't heard anything bad as far as rooms being dirty etc.

I stayed there in Aug for a 4 day trip, It wasn't bad at all to me and some rooms even have a full kitchen with a stove. Cleaners were there every morning and its right on the beach. You can not see the beach from the Motel. I also liked that the deli is right across the street to grab a quick bite. I'm not a very picky person rooms seemed clean enough for my standards.

Hoping to rekindle this post. Anyone have any important pros and/or cons about the Sea Gull?

my aunt uncle and cousins stayed there faithfully every summer. after so much hurricane damage and most of the motel destroyed they decided on renting houses instead. yes it is a basic efficiency in some of the rooms. that's what they liked and you couldn't beat the location when it was larger and closer to the beach.

When is your trip? If all you need is clean and inexpensive, you might check out a cabin at Hatteras Sands Campground. We stayed in one of their cottages (cottage has no bathroom in the unit, cabin does, but the bath house is very nice) for 4 nights a couple weeks ago, and we it was fine. Not perfect, but fine. We paid less than $100/night.

We just booked a short 4 night stay in early August (5 if you count our night in VA on the way down). I really wanted to book the Seagull given the price and location, but I just couldn't find enough positive feedback. My fiance wanted a little more in the room, and I wanted oceanfront. We both wanted Hatteras Village. So we compromised and got a little one bedroom at Hatteras Landing. Not oceanfront but a short walk to the beach.

We stayed there for a weekend a couple of years ago. The room was good sized and very clean. I would stay there again.
