Important item Found in Southern Shores

While swimming in Southern Shores on 07/17, not far from the Kitty Hawk pier, I found an item in the water that belongs to a Bart M Holland. Would like to return it to him but have not had any luck in my contacting Bart Hollands listed on social medias. Maybe I'll get lucky and find them on here, or someone can tell me where is the best place to take lost and found items. If there isn't any uch place I'll be dropping the item off at the police station - as it is of value.

unless it has a date, don't be surprised if it may be an old item or lost from somewhere else. One time I found a set of keys in the ocean and returned it to the realty. They thanked me but stated the keys were not recent at all, lol. I have even found clothing in the ocean!!

If you are on facebook, share with Oregon Inlet Idiots facebook page. Or send email to the OII admin. they have a good track record of reuniting lost items with owners.

This was not an old item. It was a new credit card. I turned it on at the police station awhile ago after all social media responses told me they hadn't been to the OBX. There were plenty of B Hollands in the Netherlands, but I didnt ask those individuals. Thanks everyone!

Just a credit card?? No wallet? Who takes a single credit card into the ocean? It probably fell off a boat. Maybe check with local charters who may have had a customer with that name???

… Who takes a single credit card into the ocean? …

If I go for a bike ride, I'll take just my driver's license and a $20 bill in a plastic bag in a rear pocket of my cycling jersey. I can see someone just taking a single credit card to the beach and not bringing a wallet.

As mentioned, probably already cancelled and a new one was sent to him.

If it's a credit card contact customer service on the back of the card. They will probably tell you to destroy it and contact the owner that it was found.

That's right , but you are not out in the ocean. Would you take your card & $20 out in the ocean in your pocket??? IF you had that in your pocket in a plastic bag, wouldn't you remove it before you went into the water??? I still think it came off a charter boat...but then what do I know!!!!??? Just hope he gets it back or like you say, call the card co. & cancel.

I can easily see this happening. Often times I just take a CC and license in my pocket when heading out, say, for dinner. My board shorts are the wick material swim/dry land type. Many times I have come off the water and realized (stupidly) I still had both cards in my (not the zippered) pocket - one time, though, only my CC was there. License is still out there somewhere.

They may not realize they had missed it right away or just thought they misplaced it. By the looks of it - it hadn't been in the water long and still had the peel paper intact on it. No wear and tear at all. I personally would cancel mine the second I noticed it missing, but like I said, there may be a couple of days before he misses it, so I turned it over to PD near Southern Shores, where I found it.

Maybe it's just me, but more times than not when I read these boards too many posters run the topic right off the rails intent on being critical about something not related to the OP's request. Now that we have a name, we can ostracize Mr. Holland for being an idiot for losing his credit card in the ocean and not his entire wallet. Maybe Mr. Holland's body is still out there somewhere and the card was the only thing that floated to shore. Sheesh.

Blue fish is prolly Will’s wife or something, but seriously though.

If the thread went off the rails then Will should gas it.

We have been Mod free for many yrs. We self- moderate by using the Flag button. If five different people flag a post it vanishes. But we take the Flag button seriously..it must be very offensive, not just a difference in opinion. Will hasnt had to kill a thread in a long long time.

Speaking of derails, when I saw the title to this thread I thought maybe Spiaz 1 found unrestricted public beach access parking in Southern Shores! Pray

I rented a home in Southern Shores so parking was not a problem.
Now to my original post-
I don't think it was run off the rails. I asked a question. People gave input, while others wondered about why someone would carry or lose a credit card at the beach. All comments pertained to my op.

my SIL first trip to the OBX last year.....lol...(I recommend taking someone to the beach that has never seen it, they are so excited!!!!) he almost lost 2 cellphones the very first night, They went onto the beach at night to see the crabs, One phone light was blinking on/off with the ocean waves in the water and the other phone was on the sand. Phones came out of his pockets running around. I didn't think a phone would work after the ocean water but it did! the next day he bought a raft and attempted to jump in with his raft, hat on and a drink in his hand,,,,he didn't make it...lmao...a wave took him out the very first time, I warned him. some of my best vacations were with newbies.
