Yes, those are houses you are looking at. They were not originally built that close to the water, but the erosion rate in that particular area is very high, so they lost all that land in front of them. Some have actually been condemned in years past, some have been moved. Just like the situation in Kitty Hawk. The area just to the north of this aerial(the bottom side as viewed) used to be referred to as the "S" curves in the road, and constantly washed away, and had to be moved. Can't stop Mother Nature!
