Any Black Friday deals for vacation rentals?

Hi! We're from VA and looking to head down to the Hatteras area next Memorial Day. I'm wondering if we should book the home now or wait a little bit to see if there are any deals. Any ideas if anyone runs any good deals or if I should go ahead and lock it down.

We are also in the same boat....

We had, up til recently been renting the same house every year for decades and have decided to make a change......finding right now that many homes do not have their rates even posted yet......

So its a tough call.....jump on something for "the right week" now, or wait and see.....

The cycle of re-renting the same place, has us conditioned to believe that these homes books as soon as they come available......but not sure if that is correct thinking or not??

We have waited as late as February to book a house. I think you will find that most rentals already have their prices set for the next calendar year. If you want cheaper rates you are better off booking off peak season. Also, we always book through VRBO as rental rates seem to be a bit cheaper than using a realtor.

Last Black Friday, Hatteras Realty was taking $100 off all rentals. I went ahead and booked my January and May (Memorial Day weekend and subsequent week) trip to save the money. They didn't have most of the prices listed yet, but I already knew what the houses I was looking at rented for. However, they said they were in the middle of changing over their website or something at the time, which is the reason they gave for not having the prices listed for this year yet. By December, most prices were listed. You can still get a ballpark of what the prices may be by looking at the individual listings or calling, though. I don't remember which ones, but I called a couple other realty companies, who were not running any Black Friday deals. I'll be waiting until Black Friday to book again, for sure. An extra $100 off an already discounted off-season rental is a great deal!

I believe that Village Realty also has BF deals.

Finding a great deal is always good, however if you have found that perfect rental I believe it is always best to lock in as soon as you can. So I guess you can say there are pros and cons to both. I have booked our fav home for 2019 already.

I saw this post and called a few rental agencies. What I did find out is that some may and some may not, and many don't disclose details. I've heard about Outer Beaches doing promotions for Hatteras Island in the past and for Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, KDH, Duck, and Corolla, etc. Village Realty will be having a sale. People on their email list are supposedly getting the first notification and an extra incentive/early access. I'm on their list so will share it once I see it and book our house! Thumbs up

Memorial Day 2019? Many owners are signing their rental agreements now. This is a high demand week. There will be no deals. Book it ASAP

If you find a cottage that fits your needs, book it, don't wait and remember all the hundreds of other families looking for the same ideal cottage. We're booked in for 3 weeks, oceanfront in SNH. We had rented the same cottage for 9 years but owners have decided to more permanently so I went searching and found what we want in the same neighborhood.

I'm already in and booked for three weeks in 2019, and I'm still a damn newbie.

Book now. The economy is strong.

I took advantage of this deal and rented a place for September but there is a $169 cleaning fee. That is ridiculous. Last year I stayed at two different Hatteras Realty places and I believe the cleaning fee was $75 both times. This new fee makes me want to use a different company even if it costs more money because it is being deceptive.

Check this out for taxes and fees. I got absolutely clobbered.

1100$ in taxes, fees, and insurance.

Yeah, I booked for February and June next year and noticed the cleaning fee was higher. However, I always stay in Buxton, and the few houses I liked were still cheaper than Buxton houses with the other rental agencies. If they get any higher, I may have to start camping. smiley

I like camping in Buxton its nice bringing most everything with you, sleeping in your own bed, know where everything is at, three steps up in the camper and if the lights go out your set for a while where others can't do so well. We were made it down the day the power was cut doing the bridge but we did o.k. for a few days still had 12 volt lights, propane fridge and could cook. After everybody left it was like you had the whole island to yourself. We ended up coming home a day early because we just did not feel right being there knowing their was a mandatory evacuation but we did stay long enough to let the rush of people leave before we did.

All in all camping more than likely cost more in the short term but after you get it paid for its cheaper then. You do have a lot more options as to when to check in and leave. Of course not everyone is close enough to make pulling a camper down feasible but for some people it works out very good.

It does sound very nice! I don't have a camper, and I fly out there since it would be a 14 hour drive for me. I would like to try tent camping sometime, as well. Maybe not for 12 days, but a long weekend in a tent sounds pretty awesome to me.
