Raccoon Trapper On Hatteras Island?

Raccoons have taken up residence in the attic of my house in Avon. I've seen them so I'm certain that they're raccoons. They tore a hole in the soffit above a 2nd floor deck to get access to the attic. They come out at night and use two flights of outside steps to get to the ground.

One possible solution would be to trap them. Does anyone know of someone who's in the business of trapping raccoons on Hatteras Island?

Call Richard Marlin 252-216-8518 and tell him Tim suggested asking him. He will probably know or he will do it himself.

RE: Raccoon Trapper On Hatteras Island?

You may be able to handle this yourself. These Havahart traps work very well. I have trapped six big groundhogs this year alone with their traps. The groundhogs move in and I move 'em on out!

This.... also tell him to call me about doing some electrical work.

I am not sure how far he travels but I used Clyde Joyner, the Critter Gitter for an issue I had with squirrels in my ceiling in Southern Shores. He was great.

I also used Clyde to get rid of my birds. He is great!

We used our pest control company to remove squirrels from our attic - I believe it was four seasons pest control.
Then we had to get an electrician to replace a lot of our wiring in the attic they had chewed up.
Hope you get them out soon!

Another possible solution would be to plug the gap in the soffit (obvious) once they're out, and exterminate any remaining pests with an air gun .177 or .22. Don't put your eye out!

RE: Raccoon Trapper On Hatteras Island?

You could save yourself some money by live trapping yourself. Do you have one or a family? They are easy to catch with any kind of meat scraps to a can of tuna. You might even catch some stray cats Banana

RE: Raccoon Trapper On Hatteras Island?

I also recommend investing in a Havahart trap and doing it yourself. I trap them here at my home in Maryland when the population begins to bulge.

Use marshmellows for bait. The bandits cannot resist.

I had the pleasure of meeting Richard Marlin last year when I took some leftover perishables over for him and his wife to feed the rehabbed animals. If he can't remove them, I'm sure he knows exactly who to get in touch with.

Dealing with urban animals like raccoons is an inconvenience that many homeowners have to face. Producing a loud noise and flooding a light into your raccoons infested place can help. Sometimes raccoon repellents especially naphthalene or moth balls are used. If these tricks do not work consider getting some raccoon removal NJ ( http://www.eg-exterminatorsnj.com/Animal-Control-Humane-Removal.html ) professionals to help so that you make your home a happy living place again.

Richard was the first wildlife expert that I met when we moved to Nags Head. We had a neighborhood cat problem big time. He dropped off two traps (from his home in Frisco I believe), and they were both Havahart. He was wonderful as was his wife. They even came back to pick up the traps. Since then I have trapped 21 cats, had them fixed and released most of them. Ten were kittens and they were all adopted thanks to Feline Hope and Lita and Feline Fix, Aimee. We also trapped three opossums. Of course, we just released them. I keep three traps handy and lend them to folks that need them. We have also had neighbors that trapped three raccoons but I don't know what they did with them. We had a new feral kitten in just the last couple of weeks. It has already been trapped, spayed and released back in my yard where I trapped him. If you have an ongoing problem, the Havahart traps are not expensive and trapping is usually overnight. Good luck!

Richard is a hoot and a super electrician as well as the guy that keeps the communication from Dare County connected to Hatteras in emergencies, oh, as well as a fire chief for Frisco. He rescues deer, possums, squirrels, and he even had a beaver living in his bathtub in the house. Super guy!
