RE: Overnight stay

We normally stop at one of the nicer chains in Ashland, VA we did go on down to Holiday Inn at Suffolk this year though. Both have seemed safe enough, and closer to the beach than home!

RE: Overnight stay

Hyatt Place in Chesapeake is nice, we have stayed there several times.

RE: Overnight stay

We have stayed at the Sleep Inn in Ashland Virginia several times, very nice hotel. There was a nice breakfast available too.

RE: Overnight stay

We've stayed in Fredericksburg a couple times. The holiday inn and Fairfield inn were both nice. Convenient right off the interstate, and dining close by. We used to like going a little further to the Newport News area. It's 3/4 (or maybe even a little more) of the way there, but it's nice being within a couple hours of Kitty Hawk. Makes for a relaxing morning and closer drive the next day.

Hilton garden inn on 295 close to Richmond air port

RE: Overnight stay

We spent about 6 weeks traveling every other weekend from Pgh to Richmond to visit a terminally ill friend a couple of years ago. We always stayed at the Hampton Inn in Front Royal. It's right off of I-66 so it would depend on what route you take.

RE: Overnight stay

We have been doing this since 1960; so have stayed various places. We just stayed in last few years at Fairfield Inn and Candlewood Suites Just off 664 in Chesapeake which were nice. Also stayed in Suffolk at Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn, both of which were nice. Depends on your route I would say. Just came back yesterday, and had stayed at Fairfield on way down since we went from Indiana, Pa and did 460 from Petersburg. In September will be taking 64 instead because we want to stay in Williamsburg.

RE: Overnight stay

Thanks everyone for your suggestions but looks like the vote was to leave Friday night instead
